They both are strong willed. The fish has kept swimming the last two days with a hook in it&#8217;s mouth and a raft above. The Old Man won&#8217;t let the fish go. He wants this fish. He is willing to die for it. I also think that the boy represents the old man when he was younger. It seems like the old man has given up on everything BUT fishing and he doesn&#8217;t relize how he is living his life. The sea could also be a symbol for life. In life you never know what to expect and being a salior you don&#8217;t always know if the sea will be calm that day or wild. Life is full of symbols and we can find them if we know where to look.
