It was a book that you really had to think about. It reminded me of when we read Romeo and Juliet or even a Mid Summer Night’s Dream. You have to stop every so often to think about what the author is trying to tell you. The only question I still have is why was this fish SO important? He kept saying he missed the boy and that he was tired and sore but he never left that fish and after he caught the stupid thing he regretted it. But I think in a way that the fish almost symbolized his life. How to the boy the old man’s life was beautiful and the fish’s life was beautiful to the old man. Maybe the story was supposed to get us to appreciate our life more. The book was very odd but meaningful all at the same time. It might make someone realize what is important in their lives. If it’s achieving something or maybe just remembering who it is who is important to you.  It was a short book. But a good one. I just don’t like that it’s a book that you really have to sit and think about. I mean books like that are good but time consuming and it almost makes you not want to read that book. Then again maybe it’s just that English is at the end of the day and so we pay more attention of getting out of class then the actual lesson!
